Bio: Hu is responsible for defining the technical direction for Hitachi Data Systems, and is spearheading the company's effort in addressing Data Life Cycle requirements to address compliance, governance, and operational risk issues. He also played a part in defining the Hitachi TrueNorth™ initiative, a collaborative approach to develop open, standards based, storage management.
In his previous position as Vice President of Data Networks, Yoshida helped to define Hitachi Data Systems' strategy for Freedom Data Networks, which Includes Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, and other network related storage and data technologies.
Prior to joining Hitachi Data Systems in 1997 as the Director of Product Marketing for Open Systems Storage, he held various positions in sales, performance evaluation, software development, product management, and product marketing for the IBM Storage Division. While at IBM, Yoshida gained international experience with assignments in Japan as a development manager and in the UK as the European Business Manager for RS/6000 Storage. He has authored several papers on Storage Area Networks, Fibre Channel, Multi-Protocol SANs, and Data Network Technologies.
Yoshida is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Mathematics. He served in Vietnam as a Marine Rifle Platoon Commander and was discharged with the rank of Captain. Yoshida has served on the advisory boards of several technology companies and currently sits on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Data Storage Institute of the Government of Singapore.
