Original Blog Entry Located Here Filed In: Software Development | Wireless Thanks to Daring Fireball for turning me on to this. This is why people are bitching about the iPhone only having EDGE (instead of 3G or 3.5G) support. RED = Sprint EVDO Rev A Wireless Card Speeds Sprint Download Speed (kbps) GREEN = Verizon EVDO Rev 0 Wireless Card Speeds Verizon Download Speed (kbps) ORANGE = T-Mobile EDGE Wireless Speeds T-Mobile Download Speed (kbps) These are download speeds, and note how the EDGE speeds (the orange bars via T-Mobile) are downright awful compared to Sprint and Verizon’s EVDO. Uploading brings even worse news. This doesn’t bode well for the Rev A iPhone, especially for heavy data users. If you need lots of speed and/or handle lots of data with your mobile device, I suggest waiting for the 3G model, which will be tremendously faster.
